providing friendly and personalized service
to the people and businesses in Monmouth, Illinois and the
surrounding area.
 |
We opened our doors for the
first time on September 10, 1964. The founders felt
the need for a bank that would serve the entire community
from the family to the businessman. In fact, the
original four hundred and fifty stockholders all lived in or
had roots in the Monmouth area. As a result, in the
beginning, as now, the Bank is for the community by
the community. |
The original location of the Bank was in a store
front on the west side of the Square in Monmouth
Illinois. From this humble location CNB began to serve
the area. It was this willingness to serve the
customer and the community that provided the base for the
Bank's progress and success.
The city of Monmouth responded so well to the
Bank's efforts, that plans for a new bank building were
underway within a year. On July 5, 1966, CNB moved to
its present location.
In 1964, bank assets amounted to two million
dollars. At the end of 2004 our assets total over
fifty-four million.
Setting aside historical facts and
accomplishments, the key to the Bank's growth in the past
and in the future will always be in its people. All of
the Bank's assets: money, equipment and facilities would be
useless without people who are sincerely interested in
serving other people.
